UK airport guide

Manchester Airport: into the city and beyond

MAN is the north of England's main long-haul and European hub. The train to Piccadilly is the default; the hotel pin should sit on a tram or a short walk from the station.

Manchester Airport has a station in the terminals. Direct trains run into Manchester Piccadilly; some continue toward the city loop. For a Northern Quarter or Deansgate stay, Piccadilly plus a short walk or tram is usually enough. Detail on bases: Manchester stays.

Train options

Airport rail into Piccadilly is the clean arrival in daylight. Late flights still work if you have checked the last train; otherwise use a pre-booked transfer from airport transfers. Once in the city, Metrolink covers many useful neighbourhoods.

Hotel districts

Piccadilly for easy arrivals, Northern Quarter for evenings, Spinningfields for a smarter dinner circuit. Avoid a cheap room that needs two buses after a long-haul day.

Onward UK travel

Liverpool is a short hop on Manchester to Liverpool. London is Euston to Piccadilly in a little over two hours. York and Edinburgh are east-coast or TransPennine journeys — plan them from the UK rail hub.
