Antalya activities guide

Tours & things to do in Antalya

The Antalya coast is built for resort weeks with optional adventure. Lara and Belek lean all-inclusive; Kaleiçi and Konyaaltı add harbour strolls and museum mornings; Düden and nearby gorges offer half-day escapes from the sun-lounger. Most UK packages land at Antalya airport — compare tour pickup zones with your hotel belt before you pay.

Hotel reps will sell you a boat, a waterfall and a ruins day before you have unpacked. This page is the independent version of that conversation: which boat length you actually want, how Side and Aspendos days are built, whether a hamam listing is a spa or a tourist circuit, and why a Belek pickup can turn a “half-day” into most of the daylight. Compare online before you fly; keep weather cancellation terms in mind.

Boats along the turquoise coast

Lunch-included day sails and shorter bay hops are not the same product. All-inclusive guests often do not need another grilled lunch on board; a three-hour swim-and-view trip may be the better spend. Departure harbours differ by hotel belt — Lara, Konyaaltı and Side are not a shared marina. Read the pickup time: a 08:00 coach from Belek for a boat that leaves at 10:30 is a morning on a bus.

Sea conditions and wind cancel or reroute trips. Keep one pool day free so a reschedule does not collide with the ruins tour you also prepaid. Pirate-themed family boats are loud and splashy; quieter small-group sails cost more and photograph differently. Neither is a hidden secret — they are just different hours on the same coastline.

Kaleiçi, waterfalls and cooler mornings

Kaleiçi walking tours work when the heat has not yet bounced off the stone. Old-town lanes, the harbour and a viewpoint are a half-day from a city hotel and a longer transfer from Belek. Düden waterfalls split between upper park paths and the lower fall that meets the sea — listings sometimes blur which one you are buying. Take water and decent shoes; this is still summer in the eastern Mediterranean.

Antalya Museum is the indoor answer to a heatwave afternoon, and it is better than another identical boat. If you only have one city day from a resort, Kaleiçi plus the museum beats a whistle-stop of both waterfalls and a shopping mall. Evening harbour walks do not need a ticket. Save the voucher for the things with a gate.

Side, Aspendos and how the day is built

Side’s ruins and harbour, and Aspendos’ Roman theatre, are the culture days most packages sell. Read how many minutes you actually get at the theatre versus carpet or jewellery stops. A focused ruins tour and a shopping-heavy tour share photographs and feel like different holidays. If the theatre is the point, pick the listing that says so in the itinerary, not only in the title.

Perge and Termessos appear on combined history days. Termessos involves a climb and more heat; it is not a gentle add-on for anyone who struggled with the hotel stairs. Summer starts should be early. If your children will melt in a ruined city at noon, choose a boat or a waterpark that day and keep ruins for a shoulder-season visit.

Rafting, canyons and hamams

Rafting and canyon trips inland are the break from the pool that active visitors want. Age and swimming rules vary; “family-friendly” on a marketplace card is not a life-jacket size. Confirm what is included — photos, lunch, kit — because the hotel desk version and the online version often differ. Wet shoes beat new white trainers.

Hamam listings range from a historic bath with a clear ritual to a spa package in a modern hotel. Confirm gender scheduling, what cloth and scrub are included, and whether mixed visiting is allowed. If you booked a couples massage, read whether that is actually on offer or whether you will be split into different rooms. Ask before you pay, not at the door in a towel.

Package weeks, pickup zones and holidays

Comparing excursions before you fly often beats the welcome-meeting price, but only if the cancellation terms survive a weather call-off. Lara, Belek, Kemer and Alanya sit on different coach circuits. A cheap Side tour that does not pick up in your belt is not cheap. The Antalya stays guide is where the hotel geography lives; this page is what you attach to it.

Ramadan shifts restaurant hours and some evening entertainment. Turkish public holidays and Eid weeks pack historic sites. For flights, London to Antalya and Manchester to Antalya set the arrival. Do not book a 07:00 rafting pickup after a 01:00 AYT landing — the first day is for the pool, not the canyon.

Antalya activities FAQs

Is Antalya only for all-inclusive holidays?

No. Kaleiçi and Konyaaltı work as city-and-coast breaks with walking tours, museums and harbour evenings. Lara and Belek are the all-inclusive belts where the pool is the centre of gravity and tours are add-ons. Choose the hotel type first; the activity list follows that choice.

Are waterfall and canyon trips weather-dependent?

Yes. Heavy rain and high water can close or reroute canyon and rafting days. Operators usually reschedule or refund according to their terms — read those before you pay, especially if you bought through a hotel desk with less obvious small print. Keep a spare pool day.

Do popular tours pick up from Belek?

Most boats, Side and Aspendos days advertise Belek pickups because that belt is full of UK packages. Confirm your hotel name or zone in the listing. A tour that starts in Kaleiçi and calls Belek “nearby” can still mean a long pre-dawn wait in a lobby.

Should I buy excursions from the hotel or before I fly?

Compare both. Online listings are often cheaper and show inclusions more clearly; hotel desks are convenient and sometimes the only pickup that matches your property. The deciding details are cancellation rules, pickup time, and whether lunch is something you already paid for at the buffet.
