This guide is for travellers who already have dates and need to decide which Malta tickets to lock. It covers Valletta harbours, Mdina, Blue Lagoon boats, Gozo, and how a capital hotel versus Sliema changes pickup logic. Live listings sit with partners.
Valletta on foot
Upper Barrakka, the co-cathedral and the harbours are a morning, not a box-tick march. Summer cruise days crowd the gardens at 10:00. Start earlier. A city-break that adds Mdina the same afternoon usually skips lunch and tempers.
Boats and the Blue Lagoon
Comino boats sell out in July. Read the meeting point — Sliema pickups and Valletta pickups are different products. Swell cancels more often than the postcard. If swimming is the point, pick a morning and keep a spare day.
Gozo as a stay, not a raid
The ferry from Ċirkewwa plus a citadel and a cove is a full day. Overnight if you can. A hire car on Gozo is easier than treating bus timetables as a promise.
Where you stay changes what you book
Valletta puts harbour walks on the doorstep and punishes late luggage. Sliema adds hotel stock and a ferry. Settle that in the Malta stays guide. Flights: London to Malta or any origin.
Compare the tickets this guide talked about
Valletta on foot, then a Blue Lagoon or Gozo day — live listings for Malta on Viator, not a SkyStay ranking. Check Sliema versus Valletta pickups on the voucher.

Malta activities FAQs
How many days do I need?
Three nights covers Valletta and one boat or Mdina day. Four or five lets Gozo be an overnight.
Should I pre-book Blue Lagoon boats?
Yes in July and August, and on UK school-holiday weeks. Shoulder months are kinder.
Do walking tours include hotel pickup?
Valletta walks almost never collect from hotels. Coach and boat products list a zone.
Is a city pass worth it?
Only if the bundle matches the sights you will actually enter. Count harbour views you can do without a ticket.
