Split Airport (SPU)
All scheduled passenger flights use Split Airport (SPU) at Kaštela. SPU is the honest Split arrival; DBV is a different south-coast trip. If a fare mentions Dubrovnik (DBV), you are buying a different coast — not a Split palace stay. Partner searches should resolve to SPU.
Airport buses reach palace / Riva and Riva. Taxis and ride-hail are the calmer choice after midnight or with rigid luggage on palace / Riva’s gradients.
Non-stop versus a stopover
From the UK, Italy, Spain, France and Germany, Split is typically a non-stop. A connection via a larger hub is rarely the first choice unless it restores bags or matches a regional departure. From farther away, one-stop is normal.
When the harbours fill
July–August and Easter firm up both seats and palace rooms. Shoulder spring and autumn often balance walking weather with swimming. Winter is quieter, with more rain than a sun-brochure week.
Buses, ferries and Hvar
Harbour ferries to Hvar and Brač are the island hop that make a Riva hotel feel central. Hvar is from the city harbour — plan it. Use the Split stays guide once SPU is confirmed. Wider shape: Croatia planning hub. Related Adriatic weeks: Europe flight routes.
