Americas stays guide

Subway cities, sprawl and resort strips

Manhattan blocks, Miami beach grids and Cancún's Hotel Zone run on different transport logic — the Americas is not one "downtown versus airport" decision repeated coast to coast.

Cities US city break? New York, Miami or Los Angeles bases. Resorts Strip or beach week? Las Vegas corridors and Cancún Hotel Zone. Gateways Canada or Mexico? Toronto and Mexico City launch points.

Trip type

A Midtown Manhattan room and a Newark airport deal can share a headline price — then parking, resort fees and daily rideshares rewrite the bill. In the Americas, transit culture changes city by city: subway-first New York, car-led Los Angeles, Strip-contained Las Vegas and colonial-walkable Mexico City.

Subway grids, resort fees and Hotel Zone maths

New York rewards proximity to a useful subway station more than borough prestige. Los Angeles and Miami spread venues across corridors — a "central" pin can still mean thirty minutes in traffic. Las Vegas is its own ecosystem: on-Strip, off-Strip and downtown solve different weekend types entirely.

Cancún splits between Hotel Zone sand and downtown tacos; neither is universally better. All-inclusive towers suit pool-and-beach weeks; city bases suit food-led trips with taxi beach runs. Toronto and Mexico City compress museums, dining and late arrivals into walkable cores — ideal for short urban breaks without a car.

Resort fees, parking charges and event surges sit outside the nightly quote. Autumn and holiday windows move New York and Toronto quickly; Miami peaks in winter and spring break; Vegas reacts to conventions and major shows overnight.

US city breaks

Manhattan borough logic, Miami beach strips and LA sprawl — subway, Metromover or daily rideshare maths.

Resort strips and entertainment hubs

Las Vegas Strip towers, Cancún Hotel Zone sand and show-weekend surges — pool-led trips where the hotel corridor is the itinerary.

Canada and Mexico gateways

Toronto lakefront towers and Mexico City colonia culture — compact centres with strong food scenes and regional launch points.

Transatlantic and hub timing

East-coast arrivals into New York or Miami shape whether you book Midtown, Brickell or an airport buffer night — compare routes before locking a district.

Resort fees and parking

US quotes often hide resort fees and nightly parking. A cheaper room off the Strip or outside South Beach can cost more once daily rideshares stack up.

Parks and city combos

National-park day trips from Vegas or LA work better when your hotel sits on the departure corridor you will use at dawn.

When you need a car

Essential for LA sprawl; optional in Manhattan and Mexico City's walkable cores; useful for wider Mexico and Canadian lake routes.
