UK airport guide

Edinburgh Airport: tram in, train out

EDI is close enough that the tram is usually the answer. Match the hotel to Waverley or Haymarket depending on whether London or Glasgow is the next ticket.

The tram runs from Edinburgh Airport into the city centre and connects toward York Place / New Town corridors. It beats most taxi queues in normal traffic. Late arrivals with luggage may still prefer a transfer — airport transfers.

Hotel districts

Old Town for atmosphere and castle mornings; New Town for Georgian streets and flatter walks; Haymarket for a quieter West End pin on the Glasgow line. Full comparison: Edinburgh stays.

Train options after you land

Waverley is the station for London on the east coast and for most long-distance tickets. Queen Street / Central logic for Glasgow is covered on Edinburgh to Glasgow. Inverness is the Highland continuation when the week is long enough — Inverness · Scotland by rail.

Festival August Beds and pavements move first. Fix the hotel and any castle ticket before you chase a cheaper airport-area motel.
